Little Forest
Little Forest (2018) — Slice-of-life K-Drama, 1 episodes.
After failing her teaching certification exam, Hye-won (Kim Tae-ri) grows exhausted by her life in Seoul — a dead-end part-time job, a rocky relationship, and a string of disappointments — and impulsively returns to her rural hometown. She settles into the empty house her mother left behind years earlier, vanishing one day for reasons that remain a mystery. There, she reconnects with two childhood friends: Jae-ha, who has left the city to become a skilled farmer, and Eun-sook, who works at the local bank. The film unfolds across a full year, devoting roughly half an hour to each season. Using fresh ingredients from the land around her, Hye-won cooks Korean dishes like kimchi sujebi, makgeolli, and acacia flower fritters — and through cooking, she revisits the memories of the enigmatic mother who passed down both her recipes and her love. As the seasons turn, Hye-won slowly discovers the genuine pleasure of a simple life, and finally understands the real reason she came home.
