Park Min-young: Every Drama, Her Roles, and What Comes Next

Have you ever been the person everyone at work relies on, and realized you had no idea how to say you were tired? Park Min-young has been playing that woman for most of her career. Capable, composed, visibly fine. And quietly carrying something she has never put into words.

Last updated: October 2026, after the finale of Siren's Kiss.

Who Is Park Min-young?

Park Min-young (박민영) was born on March 4, 1986 in Seoul. She began as a commercial model and made her acting debut in 2006 in the sitcom Unstoppable High Kick, which means she has now been working for two decades. Very few actresses who debuted that year are still leading prime-time dramas.

She is often introduced as the queen of the office romance, and that label is accurate but incomplete. It is true that What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, Forecasting Love and Weather and Marry My Husband are all set at work. What the label misses is that she has spent the last six years steadily moving away from the genre that made her famous, and that her two most recent projects are a caper comedy and a romance thriller in which she plays a suspect.

The thing people notice about her on screen is control. She rarely breaks. Her characters hold their faces still, deliver the line evenly, and let one small thing slip at the end. When a drama gives her room to use that, she is very good. When a drama only wants her to be charming, you can feel her working below capacity.

Where to Start, Depending on What You Want

Sixteen dramas across twenty years is a lot to face at once. Here is how I would send different people in.

What I would not recommend is starting with the 2012 and 2014 work. Some of it is interesting, but none of it will tell you why people have stayed with her for twenty years.

Every Park Min-young Drama, Newest First

Siren's Kiss (2026) — tvN

Korean title: 세이렌. Twelve episodes, aired March 2 to April 7, 2026, and streaming internationally on Amazon Prime Video rather than Netflix, which catches a lot of people out.

She plays Han Seol-ah, a senior auctioneer at an art auction house, and the woman at the center of an insurance fraud investigation in which several men have died after falling in love with her. Wi Ha-joon plays the investigator; Kim Jung-hyun is the third point of the triangle. It is adapted from a 1999 Japanese series, and it is directed by Kim Cheol-kyu, who made Mother and Flower of Evil.

Why watch it: This is the furthest she has gone from the warmth she is known for. The role asks the audience to keep revising its opinion of her, and she plays it without ever asking to be liked. It opened at number one in its timeslot.

Confidence Queen (2025) — TV Joseon

Korean title: 컨피던스맨 KR, adapted from the Japanese series Confidence Man JP. She plays Yoon Yi-rang, one of three con artists who target people who deserve it.

A caper comedy asks for a completely different register — fast, broad, costume-heavy, playing someone who is always performing. It is the lightest thing on her filmography and the one that most clearly shows she had gotten bored of being earnest.

Marry My Husband (2024) — tvN

Adapted from the web novel and webtoon. She plays Kang Ji-won, a woman who is betrayed by her husband and her closest friend, and who wakes up ten years earlier with the chance to arrange a different ending.

Why watch it: It was an enormous international hit, and the appeal is not subtle. The pleasure is watching a woman who spent a decade making herself small decide, with total clarity, to stop. If the revenge premise sounds too heavy, it is less bitter than it sounds and frequently funny.

Love in Contract (2022) — tvN

She plays Choi Sang-eun, a woman whose job is to be a contract wife for men who need to appear married. An unusual premise played mostly for comedy, and a rare chance to watch her be deliberately opaque about what her character actually wants.

Forecasting Love and Weather (2022) — JTBC

Set inside the Korea Meteorological Administration. She plays Jin Ha-kyung, a forecaster who runs her team with precision and runs her private life by refusing to discuss it.

This is the clearest version of the character type she returns to most: a woman whose competence at work is also the wall she has built around everything else. If you like workplace dramas where the job is actually depicted, it is one of the better ones.

When the Weather Is Fine (2020) — JTBC

Sixteen episodes, adapted from Lee Do-woo's novel. She plays Mok Hae-won, a cello instructor who quits her job in Seoul with no explanation and returns to the mountain village where she went to high school.

Why watch it: This is her best work, and it is not close. Hae-won is cold, blunt, and difficult to like for most of the series, and Park Min-young plays her without softening a single edge. Nothing much happens for several episodes. Then it does, and the back half is devastating. I have written about it at length here.

Her Private Life (2019) — tvN

She plays Sung Deok-mi, an immaculate art gallery curator who is secretly an idol fan running a devoted fan site. A warm, very funny drama about the gap between the self you present at work and the one you keep at home, and one of the few mainstream Korean dramas to treat fandom with affection rather than mockery.

What's Wrong with Secretary Kim (2018) — tvN

Her biggest commercial hit and still the role most international viewers name first. She plays Kim Mi-so, a secretary who announces she is resigning after nine years of flawless service to a vice chairman who cannot function without her, played by Park Seo-joon.

Why watch it: It is light, it moves fast, and the chemistry is genuinely excellent. It is also, underneath the comedy, about a woman whose entire identity has been built around being useful to someone else.

Queen for Seven Days (2017) — KBS2

A historical drama in which she plays Queen Dangyeong, a real figure who was removed from her position seven days after taking it. Heavier and sadder than most of her work, and worth seeing if you want her in period costume with a tragedy attached.

Healer (2014–2015) — KBS2

She plays Chae Young-shin, a tabloid reporter who wants to become a serious journalist, opposite Ji Chang-wook. A beloved drama with a devoted following, and the role where her comic timing first became obvious. If you want to know why longtime fans are protective of her, this is often the drama they mean.

City Hunter (2011) — SBS

She plays Kim Na-na, a presidential security agent, opposite Lee Min-ho. An action thriller, a huge hit in its year, and the project that turned her into a household name beyond Korea.

Sungkyunkwan Scandal (2010) — KBS2

Her first leading role. She plays Kim Yoon-hee, a woman who disguises herself as her brother to enter the Joseon-era Confucian academy, which admitted only men. The cast was full of actors who went on to major careers, and the drama still turns up on best-of-decade lists fifteen years later.

Earlier Roles

Before Sungkyunkwan Scandal, she appeared in the sitcom Unstoppable High Kick (2006), her debut, and in I Am Sam (2007). Afterward came Dr. Jin (2012), a time-travel medical sageuk, A New Leaf (2014), a legal drama, and Remember: War of the Son (2015–2016), a courtroom thriller. These are completist viewing rather than starting points.

What She Is Working On Now

As of October 2026, one project has been confirmed.

The Thread Running Through Her Roles

Line the filmography up and the pattern is hard to miss. Park Min-young keeps playing women who are extremely good at their jobs and have no working vocabulary for their own feelings.

Kim Mi-so has run another person's entire life flawlessly for nine years and has no idea what she wants for herself. Jin Ha-kyung forecasts weather for a living and will not discuss her own. Mok Hae-won answers "I'm fine" so often that it stops meaning anything. Kang Ji-won spends a decade shrinking to keep a marriage that was never hers. Kang Yi-ji, the role she is filming now, is described in the official synopsis as a woman who has proven herself through work. That is five versions of the same woman at different temperatures.

What makes it more than typecasting is that the dramas treat the competence as armor rather than achievement. These women are not admired for holding it together; they are quietly running out of room. And the turn, when it comes, is never that someone rescues them. It is that they finally say a true sentence out loud.

Siren's Kiss is interesting because it inverts this. Han Seol-ah is also composed and also unreadable, but the drama asks you to distrust her for it. After twenty years of playing women whose stillness meant hidden pain, she plays one whose stillness might mean something else entirely. It is not a coincidence that it came now.

If you have ever been the capable one — the person others lean on, who has quietly started to wonder who they lean on — her best work will not feel like watching a stranger.

Questions People Actually Ask

Where can I watch Siren's Kiss? I can't find it on Netflix.

It is on Amazon Prime Video internationally, not Netflix. Prime Video carries it everywhere except South Korea and China, which is why it does not turn up in the usual place.

Is Park Min-young in a new drama in 2026?

Two. Siren's Kiss aired on tvN in March and April 2026, and Nine to Six is scheduled for the second half of the year on SBS, with Netflix handling it internationally. No premiere date for Nine to Six had been announced as of this update.

Why does she keep playing office workers?

Partly because What's Wrong with Secretary Kim was such a large hit that the industry kept offering her variations on it. But the roles are not identical, and the better ones use the workplace to say something specific about a woman who has made her job into her whole identity. Forecasting Love and Weather and Marry My Husband are both doing that deliberately.

Which Park Min-young drama is her best acting?

When the Weather Is Fine, by a wide margin, though it is also her least immediately likeable role. If you want the best acting in a show you will enjoy on a first watch, Marry My Husband.

Is Marry My Husband worth watching if I don't like revenge plots?

Probably yes. It is warmer and funnier than the premise suggests, and the satisfaction comes less from punishment than from watching someone stop apologizing for existing.

How long has she been acting?

Since 2006, which makes 2026 her twentieth year.

How old is Park Min-young?

She was born on March 4, 1986, which makes her 40 in 2026.

What to Watch Her Do Next

Twenty years in, the interesting thing about Park Min-young is that she is still moving. She could have spent the rest of her career in the rom-com lane she owns, and the last two years suggest she has decided not to. Nine to Six will bring her back to the office romance, but the two projects on either side of it are a con artist and a murder suspect. That is not an actress settling.

Which Park Min-young role is yours? Secretary Kim, Hae-won on that snowy road, Ji-won taking her life back, or something from the early years most people skipped? Tell me in the comments. I am always curious which performance makes someone decide an actor is theirs.
